Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)


  • The ductal systems of the gallbladder, liver, and pancreas are patent, with no evidence of obstruction from stone, stricture, or tumor

  • A fiberoptic endoscope is passed through the mouth, esophagus, stomach, and into the duodenum.
  • A small cannula is inserted into the ampulla of Vater and into the common duct and pancreatic duct

  • To investigate the cause of obstructive jaundice and/or persistent abdominal pain associated with biliary or pancreatic disorder


  • Uncooperative behavior
  • Severe, acute pancreatitis
  • Acute biliary obstruction
  • Acute Myocardial Infarction
  • Esophageal or gastric outlet obstruction
  • Hepatitis B infection
