- Treatments that may shorten the
course of a cold:
- Zinc lozenges
- Echinacea
- Vitamin C (500 mg is probably
sufficient)
- Chicken soup (believe it or not,
one medical study showed it to be beneficial)
- Antibiotics do not
help!
- Pseudophedrine (Sudaphed) by
mouth
- Oxymetazolone or phenylephrine nasal spray for a few days of use (longer can cause a rebound effect, i.e., worsening Nasal Congestion
and drainage)
- Wash your hands often, especially
during cold and flu
season.
