Blood clot in the brain

  • This occurs when bleeding takes place between the brain and the skull. The blood then forms a clot, which puts pressure on brain tissue, which in turn affects the brain's functions.

  • Confusion
  • Slow-thinking
  • Personality changes
  • Headaches (may come and go)
  • Mild paralysis
  • Brief episodes of extensive paralysis may occur
  • Brief episodes of speaking difficulties may occur
  • Seizures

  • Head injury
  • Minor head/or neck trauma
  • Bleeding problems

  • CT scan
  • MRI scan

  • Corticosteroid medication may be sufficient for some patients.
  • Surgery removal of blood clot
